Summer Games Done Quick has now concluded, with the event taking the total amount raised by Games Done Quick events to over $50m.
The event, which sees players from around the world converge on Minnesota in order to speedrun games, raised $2,546,290 for Doctors Without Borders.
The most notable moment from the event was perhaps Peanut Butter the dog playing Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball.
Using a custom controller setup, footage of the dog hitting a home run quickly spread across the internet, eventually being shown on ESPN.
“The crowd roared at every successful pitch and bat, did the wave, and sang their hearts out with ball game chants,” said the Games Done Quick team in a statement.
During a speedrun of Alan Wake 2, the group attempting the run performed the dance to Herald of Darkness, which was also memorably performed by Alan Wake 2 creative director Sam Lake during The Game Awards.
Games Done Quick also announced that the next event, Flame Fatales will take place from August 18 – August 25, the next Awesome Games Done Quick will take place from January 5 until January 12 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Summer Games Done Quick will return from July 6 until July 13.
Across the 14-year history of Games Done Quick, the event has raised money for AbleGamers, Doctors Without Borders, Organization for Autism Research, Malala Fund, National Women’s Law Center, and Prevent Cancer Foundation.
