Cities: Skylines 2 console release delayed again

by NewsB

After a delay, push forward, and delay again, it seems publisher Paradox Interactive doesn’t want to get any fans’ hopes up for the console release of Cities: Skylines 2 as it has now been delayed without a clear new window. This follows continued woes with developer Colossal Order putting a lot of focus on making the game more stable.

In a post by Paradox (via Eurogamer), the team has delayed the game’s console release once again, though, unlike last time, it’s stopped short of saying when it will be released. Even with the October release window, it appears Paradox isn’t totally convinced it could meet the stability and performance targets and fix the unknown issues plaguing the game.

While the publisher stops short of addressing a new release window (dubbed “release candidate”), it does note that it will circle back to possible periods after a through review slated for August. If we had to guess, it could perhaps bleed into the holiday season or even find a slot in early 2025. The worst case scenario, though, should be addressed, that being the console versions could be canned in favor of not releasing elsewhere until the PC version is entirely fixed.

Speaking of PC, it’s worth noting that Paradox and Colossal knew Cities: Skylines 2 didn’t meet targeted benchmarks, but still went ahead and released the game anyway.
