Temperatures have been dropping all over the place; Southern California, where it’s surf-season all year around, has even been seeing some chilly nights. Whether you like cold weather or not, one of the definite perks is bundling up with a cozy luxury throw in front of a crackling fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa in hand. With that image in mind, here are some of our favorite throw blankets, from classic knit styles to graphic patterns and “All-American” styles.

The DKNY Weekend Throw Blanket is super soft and has a comfortable weightiness to it that does a great job warming you up in a hurry. Costing $59.99, this throw is 100 percent acrylic and features a pretty, fine knit pattern that resembles that of a homemade blanket your grandma would send you. Red is my favorite but it also comes in aqua, charcoal, chocolate, eggplant, ivory, and light gray.

Votary Blanket
If you love the “All-American” style, this Votary blanket is for you. While it comes in a two-tone gray color, why would you want that when the classic red, white, and blue color is available? At $225, this blanket is designed and manufactured in the U.S.A., and is 100 percent low pill acrylic. The company promises it’s as soft as merino wool, but you’ll have to be the judge for yourself. Hypoallergenic and reversible, it would make a great accent to any room.

Anthropologie Sari Throw
Made from vintage silk, this Sari Throw from Anthropologie retails for $198. I love the bright colors and worn appearance, making it look like it was bought from an outdoor market in India. According to the reviews, this recycled Sari Throw looks excellent as a home décor accent, thrown across antique furniture. While some have made mention of an odd smell, silk tends to absorb odors so one reviewer recommends gently hand washing the throw or putting it somewhere with some potpourri nearby. However, if you’re looking for a sleek throw, this one isn’t for you because it features a frayed, worn look that’s to be expected from the style.

Draper Stripe Chinois Blue Throw by Dwell Studio
Retailing for $175, the Draper Stripe Chinois Blue Throw from Dwell Studio features graphic stripes, which is a pattern that never really goes out of style, and is 95 percent baby alpaca and five percent polyester. With alternating colors of cream and soft blue, as well as a short fringe, this one seems like a great alternative to chilly nights.

Coyuchi Herringbone Organic Wool Blanket
Coyuchi is known for luxurious organic bedding and their Herringbone Wool Blanket is no different. Made from 100 percent organic Argentine wool, this blanket is made in Maine by Brahms Mount and “woven on an antique shuttle loom by skilled craftsmen for heirloom quality.” The simple angled line pattern is slight and probably wouldn’t interfere with any décor scheme you may have going on. The throw comes in Pewter with Charcoal, Peacock with Indigo, Tangerine with Ivory, and Red with Charcoal. The wool blanket comes within a neat cedar-lined wood box, which would make a great gift and be a great way to store it during summer months. Prices for the blanket with the gift box are as follows: Throw $438, Full/Queen $900, King $1,098.

Calypso Faux Fur Throw
Taking a stand against animal cruelty doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the soft feeling of fur, and this $375 Faux Fur Throw from Calypso proves it. The Ivory throw has Belgian linen on the reverse side and a luxurious faux fur on the other, which would easily give any room a glamorous edge.

Zara Home’s Mohair Flecos Throw
If you’re the type who loves fuzzy blankets, this Mohair Flecos Throw from Zara Home may be for you. Coming in eight different colors, including a soft purple and a charcoal grey, this throw is regularly priced at $189, though it’s currently going for $89.90. This blanket is 66 percent mohair, which is a silk-like yarn made from Angora goat hair, and 30 percent wool. Mohair is typically known for its sheen and warmth, so this one would be a great throw to snuggle up with for a movie night with your better half.
