by NewsB

According to a recent report by VG Insights, co-op games are becoming increasingly significant on Steam.

It is estimated that by 2023, approximately 40% of video games purchased offered the option to play in co-op. The data indicates that 799 co-op titles were introduced last year, a 14% increase from the previous year. This figure is more than double the amount released in 2018.

Personally, I’ve had some of the best gaming experiences of my life in co-op games, also playing with friends is what it’s all about.

The data also shows that co-op titles stand at 38,000, while non-co-op comes in at 5,000. Notably, 106 co-ops on Steam have surpassed 5 million copies in sales. Even within the indie game category, the 25% of the lowest-selling co-op still double the sales of the 25% of the lowest-selling non-co-op.

In 2024, prominent co-op titles on Steam include Helldivers 2 and Palworld, constituting 28% and 47% of total co-op sales, respectively. Noteworthy mentions also go to Gray Zone Warfare (approximately 1.4 million copies) and Content Warning (2.4 million copies sold, in addition to 6 million free copies).
