Concord’s Full Release Needs to Include a Feature Call of Duty Has Had for 15+ Years

Concord, the upcoming hero-shooter by Firewalk Studios, has managed to grab everyone’s attention thanks to the ongoing beta. Even though it clearly draws inspiration from Overwatch and Valorant, it brings something unique to the table.

The game’s beta is receiving mixed reviews from players, but some appreciate its unique mechanics and exciting gameplay. However, Concord still lacks a significant feature, which its biggest rival, Call of Duty, has had for nearly 15 years at this point.

There’s no doubt that Call of Duty is the face of the FPS genre. The series has brought many revolutionary features and mechanics in the past two decades, which are now the essentials of any FPS title.

Concord beta has proven to be a great experience so far, but it’s clear that the game still needs to improve upon a lot of things before its full release. Many in the community have said that the title desperately needs the “Join in Progress” and “AFK Kick” features from the Call of Duty franchise to encourage players to keep playing.

One of the fundamental flaws with the game right now is that a large number of players leave their games once they start losing rounds. While other shooters allow players to join such matches and fill up spots, Firewalk’s hero shooter doesn’t, which makes it quite a frustrating experience for the team on the losing end.

That’s not all; players come across tons of AFK players during their playtime. Often, there’s an option to kick such players, but again, Concord doesn’t allow players to do that for some unknown reason.

It’s clear that if Firewalk wants to establish the game as one of the contenders for the Game of the Year award, it needs to sort out various issues and bring such core features to the game.

Originally revealed back in May 2023, we got our first look at Firewalk’s Concord almost one year later at Sony’s State of Play.

Bearing a similar style to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, gamers take the command of a mercenary group known as Freegunners. Since its reveal, many have been wondering when the game will go global, and we finally have a release date.

The hero-shooter is all set to release on August 23, 2024. The game will be ready for PlayStation 5 and PC. Although it comes with 16 heroes at launch, we still know very little about half of the cast. PlayStation has confirmed that all additions to the title, including maps, game modes, and characters, will be absolutely free.

If you’re itching to get your hands on this epic hero shooter, you can participate in its early access beta to dive into the action.
