Starfield’s Cut Minor Detail Points to an Original Vision Extending Beyond Bethesda’s Reach

by NewsB

Starfield is one of Bethesda’s most ambitious projects to date and although the game allows players to explore a massive open world, it seems like a lot of content was removed from the final version of the game. And now, players have found some minor details that prove this point.

The game has been out for roughly 10 months now and as players progress, more details have been discovered that prove Bethesda cut a lot of content. From swimming mechanics to personal space stations, having all the removed content would make the game much more exciting.

A viral post on the r/Starfield subreddit has highlighted how a sign at the New Atlantis spaceport in Starfield points towards a Hotel but there is nothing there. Players speculate that this hotel was also initially a part of the game but was removed in the final version.

Gamers hope that Bethesda adds this hotel back as New Atlantis is the only place without accommodation. It is believed this content was removed from the game because it’s close to the spaceport.

By digging up the game’s files, players were able to find the unused content that was initially planned to be a part of the game. A Reddit user named npcompl33t made a list of things that were eventually cut from the game which included:

  • A Constellation settlement in Delta Pavonis
  • The legendary home of the House Va’ruun, Va’ruun’kai.
  • Asteroid belts as visitable destinations around numerous planets.
  • Weather effects such as Permanent Hurricane and Hallucinogenic Atmosphere.
  • At least five named Starfield flora and the ability to swim.

Many fans hope that Bethesda adds all the removed content in the future in the form of DLCs as most of these things would’ve made Starfield much more interesting.

Various mods out there allow players to add unreleased content to Starfield and if you wish to try one of those, you should check out the New Landmark Quests – Cut Content Restored Mod by ConnerRia.

This mod restores cut content, allowing players to visit the Leaning Tower Of Pisa and The Face On Mars, and adds new landmark quests to visit the NASA Launch Tower, Nova Galactic Research Station, and the Mars Rover.

Director, Todd Howard, described Starfield as “Skyrim in space” and it was the first new intellectual property (IP) by Bethesda Game Studios in over twenty-five years. The game took eight years to develop and was delayed several times.

The cut content is indeed a setback but Bethesda still has the chance to roll out this content in future updates. Is there anything in particular you would like to see in Starfield? Let us know in the comments below.
